Introduction to Songqing Gymnasium: Songqing Gymnasium (Wuhan University Gymnasium) is located at the southern bottom of Lion Rock. After Li Yuanhong (alias Songqing, nicknamed Lihuangpi), the president of the early Republic of China and governor of Shouyi, died of illness in Tianjin, he originally wanted to be buried in the National Stadium. At the southern foot of Luojia Mountain, Wuhan University, the school did not respond for some reason. Later, his descendants Li Shaoji and Li Shaoye invested in building this gymnasium in the school, leaving its name in Wuhan University.
The stadium was completed in July 1936. It is surrounded by corridors and uses reinforced concrete beams and columns. The roof adopts a three-hinge arch with a span of more than 30 meters to bear load. This was a very advanced construction technology in the West at that time. The front stand also has Chinese-style The double eaves-three dripping eaves, and the brackets used only in palaces or high-standard temples are also made in the pavilion. The roof is covered with green glazed tiles, and the height difference of the dense eaves is used for lighting and ventilation. The side wall frame structure and the gable are in the Baroque style. It is a typical combination of Chinese and Western architecture.
