University introduction: Würzburg University (Julius-Maximilians-Universitaet Würzburg), the "Julius-Maximilians University of Bavaria in Würzburg", was founded on December 10, 1402. It is the oldest university in Bavaria's history. A long-standing university, it is a member of the European Coimbra Group's elite university alliance. In 1895, German physicist Roentgen discovered X-rays at the University of Würzburg and became the first person to win the Nobel Prize in Physics.
