Introduction to the Jade Emperor's Palace: The Yuhuang Palace of Dongxu Palace is an early Taoist palace in Wuxi. It was built in Jiaoshan, Yidong Township, in the second year of Liang Datong (536), and was later abandoned; it was moved in about the third year of Xiangfu, Dazhong of the Song Dynasty (1010). The left side of Chong'an Temple in the city was renamed Dongxu Palace. During the Song Dynasty, Yuan Ming Dynasty and Wanli Dynasty, it was burned three times and rebuilt three times, and its scale increased. In the 10th year of Xianfeng's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1860), it was again destroyed by the army and the whole palace was destroyed. In the 13th year of Tongzhi (1874), the six halls of Sanqing, Linggong, Huoshen, Leizun (the former residence of Abing), Changsheng and Patriarch were rebuilt. In the second year of Guangxu (1876), Taoist priest Qin Ruifang raised funds to build the Jade Emperor Hall, located at No. 16 Gongyuan Road today. The main hall faces south and is majestic and towering; symmetrical viewing rooms are built at each corner, and a patio is left between the front and rear rooms; the total construction area is 250 square meters.
