Introduction to the bottom of the tower: It is said that before the tower was built, disasters occurred frequently in Shicheng County, and floods were raging on both sides of the Qinjiang River. There is a small temple in Hedong, the county seat. There are two monks living in the temple. They devote themselves to chanting Buddha and spreading it to the people. Many victims of the disaster come to pray for good weather and abundant harvests. Seeing that they were practicing sincerely, Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva entrusted them with a dream to build a seven-story pagoda behind the temple using bricks from the stoves of thousands of households in the county, which could avoid evil and disasters and ensure the health of the people. After the completion of the pagoda, the county had good weather and abundant crops. People named it Baofuyuan Pagoda, and named the temple where eminent monks practiced Baofu Temple. Firstly, it means treasure and blessing, and secondly, it is homophonic with "protection".
