Introduction to the Krupp Cannon: In September 1888, Emperor Guangxu gave permission for the construction of a new fort in the Xiamen Fortress, and ordered Bian Baodi, Governor of Fujian and Zhejiang, to "order two 28-year-old breech-loaded cannons with foreign merchants." He inspected them successively. I visited 38 arsenals around the world, compared the cannons produced by factories in various countries, and finally decided to purchase the cannons produced by the Krupp Arsenal in Germany. In 1893, the two Krupp cannons of the Hulishan Fort were transported from the port of Essen, Germany, to the Minjiang Estuary by the ocean liner (Essen). They were transferred to the Dun Shipyard, rebuilt, and then transported to the Hulishan Fort in Xiamen for installation. Appropriately, the two Krupp cannons at Hulishan Fort are numbered L/40C/86 (destroyed in 1957) and L/40C/87 (only one remains now).
