Introduction to Anding Gate: Xi'an's west gate was originally the middle gate to the west of the Imperial City of the Tang Dynasty. It was preserved when Han Jian downsized and built the new city at the end of the Tang Dynasty. When the city wall was expanded in the Ming Dynasty, the location was slightly moved to the south and it was named Anding Gate.
