Introduction to the turret: According to convention, all city corners are square, but in the Xi'an city wall, only the southwest corner is a round corner. This rounded corner is the ruins of the corner platform of the "Imperial City" of the Tang Dynasty. A turret is built at each of the four corners of the city. During wartime, it assists the city tower in fighting and guards the four sides.
