Introduction to the performing arts area: "Bodhi Journey East" is based on the content of the "Burial Relic Monument" unearthed from the Xinglong Pagoda Underground Palace in Yanzhou in 2008, and was carefully created in conjunction with Mei Shuaiyuan, the founder of China Live Performance, and his team. In the form of a seven-act musical, the performance describes and explains themes such as truth and beauty, good and evil, promise and trust, sacrifice and dedication, persistence and pursuit of faith, unity and integration of all ethnic groups, and restores the story of the Northern Song Dynasty. The historical features and panoramic view show the customs, local folk music, etc. at that time. At the same time, the performance also reflected Yanzhou’s fine humanistic tradition of “honesty, respect for the virtuous, tolerance, and kindness” and the unique “Yan” culture.
