Introduction to the Lotus Lantern Festival: On June 6 of the lunar calendar, Shuidong Town, Xuanzhou District, Xuancheng, Anhui Province held the annual traditional folk "Lotus Lantern Festival". According to local elders, the Lotus Lantern Festival was held to commemorate Yang Si of the Tang Dynasty. There are many legends about Yang Si. One of them says that Yang Si was cutting firewood in the Heisha River and saw a dragon in the river that wanted to overturn the boat. So he jumped into the river and fought with the dragon, and then killed the dragon. The people on the boat were saved, but Yang Si died. The person Yang Si rescued happened to be an "emperor", so the emperor named him "King Pinglang". Later generations were impressed by his self-sacrifice and built a temple to commemorate him. Every year on June 6 of the lunar calendar, people also commemorate him by releasing lanterns.
