Introduction to Jiaoshan Forest of Steles: Baomoxuan is also known as Jiaoshan Forest of Steles. It was originally the site of Ziran Nunnery, Xianglin Nunnery, Yufeng Nunnery and Haiyun Nunnery. The Forest of Steles contains more than 400 inscriptions from past dynasties. The largest number is second only to the Forest of Steles in Xi'an and is the largest forest of steles in Jiangnan. These inscriptions are embedded in the cloisters and pavilions, and contain calligraphy, art, historical materials, epitaphs from past dynasties, stone carvings, etc., and are extremely rich in content.
The most famous ones in the forest of steles include "Preface to the Theory of Destroying Evil" written by Wang Xizhi of the Eastern Jin Dynasty; thirty poems from Tang Yan Zhenqing's "Five Character Poems on Duoba Pagoda", a total of forty-four pieces; the "Urban Forest" banner by Mi Fu, a famous calligrapher and painter of the Song Dynasty; Huang Tingjian's Su Dongpo's "Shuo Liju"; Su Dongpo's "Inscription with Mozhu Postscript" and "Mozhu Self-Inscription"; two pieces of small regular script inscriptions by Zhao Zi'ang of the Yuan Dynasty; seven pieces of "Returning Letters" written by Prince Cheng of the Qing Dynasty, all of them are handwritten by famous artists and are rich in content. Colorful, each with its own characteristics. The "King of Steles" in the forest of steles is called the "King of Steles". It is one of the "two inscriptions" with extremely high preservation value in my country, namely the "He Inscription" in Zhenjiang in the south and the "Shimen Inscription" in Luoyang in the north.
