Bailongtan Scenic Area is located at the foot of the Yanshan Great Wall, 30 kilometers northeast of Miyun County, in Longtan Mountain. It has been worshiped since the Han Dynasty because of the saying that "the dragon can make clouds and rain", and its construction history has been thousands of years. Bailongtan is located in the canyon area of ​​the north and south mountains. It was called Shipen Valley in ancient times, also known as Longtan Valley. It has beautiful mountains and rivers, many peaks and strange rocks, overlapping ponds and brocades, and the slopes are covered with pines and cypresses. Visiting here to escape the summer heat every year, the local "temporary palace" is the only place to pass on the royal road to and from Chengde Summer Resort from Beijing.

Bailongtan Scenic Area is surrounded by mountains on three sides. The highest peak is 943 meters above sea level. There are dense trees on the surrounding mountains. The mountain forest area is 6,000 acres, including 800 acres of scenic forest. The forest coverage rate is as high as 60%. Rare and ancient trees are connected into a patchwork. The mountains here are high and the forests are dense. The water resources are abundant and the climate is cool and pleasant. The ten-mile Daoren Creek in the area is full of waves in summer and trickling in winter, creating a wild atmosphere at every step; 800 acres of landscape forest, peach and apricot flowers bloom in spring, green covers the refreshing summer, glass red leaves dye autumn, and green pines Auspicious snow and warm winter; after hundreds of years of construction from the Yuan Dynasty to the Ming and Qing Dynasties, there are many ancient buildings and strong incense. With Longquan Temple and Wulong Temple as the center, it has reached a considerable scale. During the Kangxi and Qianlong periods of the Qing Dynasty, the most glorious period, legend has it that Four halls, eighteen pavilions and a large theater are distributed in the Longtan Valley in an orderly manner according to local conditions. Emperor Qianlong once sent officials to worship the dragon and pray for rain for the people to visit the lake in person, thus forming a tradition of worshiping the dragon every February and August. Royal Ceremony: Emperor Qianlong gave Cao Tianyin a half-chao luanjia so that he could hold a meeting on June 15th every year to serve as the altar.

How to get there:

By bus: Take bus No. 12 from Dongshitiao (No. 42 Station), or take a long-distance bus from outside Dongzhimen and get off at Bailongtan Station in Miyun;
