Songtaotian Lake in Danzhou is one of the top ten reservoirs in the country. It is the source of life for the people of Hainan and enjoys the reputation of "Pearl of the Treasure Island". Songtao Reservoir It is located in the upper reaches of the Nandu River, the largest river in Hainan, 14 kilometers away from Danzhou City. Reservoir Dam Construction began in 1958 and took 10 years to complete. The reservoir area spans three cities and counties, namely Danzhou, Baisha and Qiongzhong. It is one of the largest earth dam projects in my country.

Songtaotianhu Reservoir is vast, surrounded by mountains and covered with vast virgin forests. The reservoir has a surface area of 130.5 square kilometers and there are many small islands in the lake. The total reservoir capacity is 3.34 billion cubic meters. It stores rainwater from an area of 1,400 square kilometers on both sides of the upper reaches of the Nandu River to form a unified irrigation system, irrigating large tracts of land in the northwest and north of Hainan Island. It is not only beneficial to agriculture, fishery and industry, but also a good place for summer heat relief, vacation and sightseeing in Hainan Island.
