Labrang Monastery It is one of the six major monasteries of the Gelugpa sect of Tibetan Buddhism. The monastery was first built during the reign of Emperor Kangxi of Qing Dynasty (1709) and has a history of nearly 300 years. Six scripture halls have been built in the monastery, and it retains the best Tibetan Buddhist teaching system in the country. It is the political and religious center of the Gelugpa sect of Tibetan Buddhism in Gannan area and the highest Buddhist institution in Northwest China. Best time to visit:
It is possible in all seasons. Every year from the 4th to the 17th day of the first lunar month, from the 29th day of the sixth lunar month to the 15th day of the seventh lunar month, as well as on the 13th day of the first lunar month and the 8th day of the seventh lunar month, there will be Dharma assemblies such as exposing Buddha statues and debating sutras.
