Wachau: You can take a bus from Vienna Railway Station to Melk and other coastal towns.

Vienna:

Scenic area opening hours:

Melk Abbey: 09:00-17:30 from May to September, 09:00-16:30 from April to October, last entry time is half an hour before closing; park 09:00-18:00 from May to October.

Gottwick Abbey: 10:00-18:00, June-September 09:00-18:00; last entry time is one hour before closing.

Travel Tips

travelling guideline:

1. The Wachau cruise starts in early April and lasts until the end of October, with three cruises a day (one cruise a day in October). It is recommended that tourists take Melk as the starting point and Krems as the focus. You can go up and down the town as you like. It takes 1 hour and 45 minutes to go down the river and 3 hours to go upstream. Cruise ships are not open in winter.

2. Melk Abbey must be reserved in advance from November to March, and can only be visited in groups; the open-air balcony connected to the marble hall and library is a good place to enjoy the scenery of the town.

3. The balcony of the Durenstein Palace Hotel is the best place to overlook the scenery in this small town.
