Xinmin Street in Changchun was once the political center of the Puppet Manchukuo period. It was not only the central axis of the Puppet Manchukuo Imperial Palace, but also the "Central Avenue" the political center of the Puppet Manchukuo capital. It was once named "Shuntian Street" and "Minquan Street". After the founding of New China, it was changed to Xinmin Street, which is still in use today.
