Yichang Sanyou Cave Travel Guide

Scenic spot introduction:

Sanyou Cave is backed by the mouth of the Xiling Gorge of the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River and faces the Xialao River. The cave has strange scenery and beautiful mountains and rivers. There are more than 40 cliff inscriptions by famous people since the Tang Dynasty inside and outside the cave. It is a famous scenic spot in Hubei Province.

Attractions distribution:

Sanyou Cave is located in Xiling Mountain, 16 kilometers northwest of Yichang. During the Yuanhe period of the Tang Dynasty, Bai Juyi and Bai Xingjian Yuanzhen met in Yiling (today's Yichang, Hubei Province). They visited the cave together and each wrote a poem. Bai Juyi wrote the "Preface to Sanyou Cave" on the wall of the cave, from which Sanyou Cave got its name. This is what people call "the first three tours"; in the Song Dynasty, the famous writers Su Xun and Su Shi (Dongpo Dongpo) ), Su Zhe and his son also came to visit the cave, and each wrote a poem on the cave wall. People call it the "Later Three Tours". To this day, there are still inscriptions by Ouyang Xiu in the Song Dynasty and "Ouyang Xiu" re-engraved in the Ming Dynasty inside and outside the cave. There are more than 40 wall carvings and inscriptions including "Preface to Sanyou Cave", which are famous places of interest in Hubei Province.
