Xi'an Banpo Museum Travel Guide
Xi'an

Scenic spot introduction:

Xi'an Banpo Museum is the first prehistoric site museum in China. It is also a relatively complete and typical matrilineal clan commune village site in the Yellow River Basin. It is located in the north of Banpo Village on the east bank of the Chan River in the eastern suburbs of Xi'an City. The houses, cellars, stove pits, collective graveyards where men and women were buried separately, various production and daily necessities and other relics in the Banpo site vividly show us the production and life of our ancestors during the prosperous matrilineal clan society more than 6,000 years ago. It has important scientific value for studying the history of primitive society in China. The museum was officially opened to the public on April 1, 1958, and has received more than 20 million Chinese and foreign tourists so far.

Attractions distribution:

The Banpo site is divided into three areas: residential area, pottery making area and tomb area. The residential area is the main body of the village. The Banpo people belong to the Neolithic Age, and the tools they use are mainly wooden and stone tools. Women are the main productive force among the Banpo people. They are responsible for making pottery, weaving, and raising livestock, while men are mostly engaged in fishing and hunting. The museum currently has three exhibition rooms and one heritage hall. Here, you can not only see the simplicity of human childhood, but also trace the travails of the Chinese ancestors.
