Nanhua Temple is one of the famous Buddhist temples in China. It is the birthplace of the "Nanzong Zen Method" promoted by Huineng, the Sixth Patriarch of Zen Buddhism, who wrote: "The Bodhi tree has no tree, and the mirror is not a stand. There is nothing in the first place, so where is the dust?" . The Sixth Patriarch Huineng founded Zen Buddhism here and it is the ancestral home of Zen Buddhism.
