The former residence of Shen Congwen in Phoenix is the place where Shen Congwen was born and grew up in his childhood. It is also the most important cultural landscape in the ancient city of Phoenix. Shen Congwen's former residence is located at No. 10 Zhongying Street, Fenghuang County. It is a one-story courtyard building sealed with fire bricks. The courtyard is divided into two parts, front and back. There is a patio paved with square red stones in the middle and wing rooms on both sides, with a total of 11 rooms. The former residence now displays Mr. Shen’s inscriptions, manuscripts, relics and portraits. The bedroom where he was born remains the same to this day, with all the desks and daily necessities used. How to get there:
The former residence is located in the ancient city of Fenghuang. You can turn into it from a small alley called Zhongying Street next to the "Phoenix City" archway.
1. Bus route: After tourists take the train to Jishou, they can transfer to the minibus at the train station square to Fenghuang, which is available from 6 a.m. to 20 p.m., about an hour's journey; also You can take the scheduled air-conditioned shuttle bus from South Bus Station, which runs every 20 minutes.
2. Self-driving route: Starting from Changsha, drive along the Changzhang Expressway and enter the Hangrui Expressway in the direction of Jishou/Ruili/G56; then turn into the Baomao Expressway and drive from Jishou/Qianzhou/G209 Take the exit, cross the Xiaoxi Bridge, drive along G209 into Fenghuang County, pass Fenghuang South Road → Hongqiao West Road.
