The Wenchang Soong Family Residence is the ancestral home of Soong Ching Ling, wife of Dr. Sun Yat-sen and Honorary President of the People's Republic of China. Soong Ching Ling's great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather and grandfather all lived here, and her father Soong Yaoru was also born here in 1861. In 1985, in order to commemorate the contributions and far-reaching influence made by Soong Ching Ling and her family in history, the Wenchang Municipal People's Government specially restored the Soong Family Residence, and Deng Xiaoping personally inscribed "Song Family Residence".

The ancestral home of Song Qingling is a traditional farmhouse in Wenchang. It consists of the Song Qingling Life and Deeds Exhibition Hall and Song Family Ancestral House It consists of two courtyards, with two main houses, two side houses, two gatehouses and a courtyard wall, covering an area of 1,500 square meters and a building area of 198 square meters. The exhibition hall displays historical materials, photos, charts, paintings, replicas and other exhibits about Song Qingling's youth, revolutionary war years, and her work in world peace, as well as the deep remembrance of people from all walks of life at home and abroad. Around the ancestral home, there are also the Song Qingling Exhibition Hall and the Song Qingling Botanical Garden, which were built successively with the support of the Song Qingling Foundation and friendly people at home and abroad. A 3.2-meter-high white marble statue of Song Qingling stands to the north of the ancestral home.
