Pinghu Mo's Manor is known as the "Forbidden City in the South of the Yangtze River". As one of the six great halls in the south of the Yangtze River (Mo's Manor, Master of the Nets Garden, Caiyi Hall, Luzhai, Tuisi Garden, and Chunzailou), Pinghu Mo's Manor has gone through three centuries. It was founded by the Pinghu gentry in the late Qing Dynasty. Mo Fangmei was built in the 23rd year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty (1897). The entire project lasted three years and cost one hundred thousand taels of silver. It is a large-scale enclosed ancient residential building complex. Three generations of Mo Fangmei's grandparents have lived here for more than half a century. Looking at the entire manor, the buildings are orderly, well-proportioned and natural, highlighting the beauty of ancient Chinese architecture. Its complete architecture, rich objects and typical style are unique in the south of the Yangtze River and have won widespread praise from Chinese and foreign tourists.
