Scenic spot introduction:
Shenyang World War II Allied Prisoner of War Camp Site Exhibition Hall is currently the world's largest special museum that reflects the history of the Japanese army's detention of Allied prisoners of war during World War II. It is the most complete one among the 18 prisoner of war camps set up by Japan in its homeland and overseas occupied areas during World War II. . Shenyang World War II Allied Prisoner of War Camp is known as the "Auschwitz of the East" and has held more than 2,000 prisoners of war from six countries including the United States, Britain, Canada, Australia, the Netherlands, and France. The exhibition hall was built on the basis of the preserved old site and displays a large number of precious historical photos and objects, providing another strong and conclusive evidence to prove the fact of Japanese aggression.Attractions distribution:
The former site of the prisoner of war camp is located at No. 30-3 Ditan Street, covering an area of more than 12,000 square meters. The old site consists of a historical exhibition hall, a memorial square, prisoner of war barracks, Japanese military office buildings, water towers, chimneys, etc. A new "Victim Monument Wall" was built next to the old site. The exhibition hall has two permanent exhibitions: "Exhibition of Historical Facts of Shenyang World War II Allied Prisoner of War Camp" and "Prisoner of War Camp in the Paintings of Prisoners of War". There is also a special exhibition area in the museum to display cartoons of Allied prisoners of war. In the extremely harsh living environment at that time, Prisoner of War No. 1475 William Christie Wotke, Prisoner of War No. 438 Barton Franklin Pinson, and Prisoner of War No. 1658 Macon Fortier used pencils to create hundreds of paintings showing the labor and work of prisoners of war. The comics of life have become precious witnesses of that little-known history.Scenic spot features:
