The Memorial Hall of the former site of the General Headquarters of the Red Fourth Front Army in Tongjiang is a landmark building in the "Red Army City" in Bazhong. Its original site, the Tongjiang Confucian Temple, is one of the relatively complete Ming and Qing ancient buildings in northeastern Sichuan. In December 1932, the Fourth Front Army of the Red Army set up its General Headquarters and General Political Department here after liberating Tongjiang City. They did not leave until the spring of 1935. Xu Xiangqian and other 446 marshals and generals of the Republic fought bloody battles here. The entire building has a dignified shape, rigorous structure, carved beams and painted pillars, and is highly artistic and ornamental.
