Travel Guide to the Hometown of the Sixth Patriarch of Guoen Temple in Yunfu

Scenic spot introduction:
Guoen Temple stands side by side with Guangxiao Temple in Guangzhou, the ashram of the Sixth Patriarch Zhufa, and Nanhua Temple in Caoxi, Qujiang, the ashram of Lifelong Dharma. They are also known as the three ancestral halls of the Sixth Patriarch. Guoen Temple is not only the former residence of the Sixth Patriarch's physical Bodhisattva, but also the holy place where the Sixth Patriarch preached Dharma, passed away, and compiled the Sixth Patriarch's "Dharma Treasure Altar Sutra". Guoen Temple is located at the foot of Longshan in Liuzu Town, Xinxing County, 13 kilometers away from the city. It was built by the Sixth Patriarch Huineng in the first year of Hongdao (683) of Emperor Gaozong of the Tang Dynasty to repay the kindness of his parents in raising him. It is named "Baoen Temple". In the second year of Shenlong (706), Emperor Zhongzong of the Tang Dynasty issued an edict to name it "Guoen Temple" (today, the inscription on the forehead reads "Edict to Guoen Temple"). It became the first temple in the country named with Chinese characters.Attractions distribution:
The main body of Guoen Temple is a Doukan-style three-level platform made of rectangular boulders, which rises successively according to the mountain topography. The main halls include the Heavenly King's Hall, the Main Hall, and the Sixth Patriarch's Hall. The main attractions include: Thousand-year-old ancient lychees, Buddha relics, the Sixth Patriarch's bathing pool, Zhuoxi Spring, the Pagoda of Repayment of Encouragement, and the tombs of parents.Scenic spot qualifications:

How to get there:
From Guangzhou City, take a train to Xinxing County. There are direct luxury buses from Guangzhou to Xinxing County in just two hours. There are also long-distance buses from various places to Xinxing County. From the county, you can take bus No. 1 directly to Longshan Guoen Temple.
