Best time to visit:

Varanasi has a subtropical climate, with summer from April to October, and the rainy season from June to July, with temperatures sometimes reaching over 40 degrees Celsius. December to February is winter, and the lowest temperature can be around 5-15 degrees Celsius. The temperature difference between winter and summer is relatively large, and there can be foggy weather in winter. The best time to travel is from November to March, when the weather is refreshing, and accommodation is much cheaper because it does not require air conditioning. There is less rain and the streets are relatively clean.

How to get there:

The common modes of transportation to reach Varanasi are plane and train. There are flights to Varanasi from cities such as Delhi and Kolkata.

Varanasi Airport (Varanasi Babatpur Airport) is located 22 kilometers northwest of the city. The airport bus is 25 rupees per person to the Indian Airlines office. To get to the old city, you have to transfer to a Tuktuk bus for about 50 rupees per person.

There are two railway stations in Varanasi. One is the main railway station Varanasi Cantonment (or Varanasi junction train station), which is a commonly used railway station for entering and exiting Varanasi. The train station has a dedicated Foreign Tourist Assistance Bureau (Foreign Tourist Assistance Bureau) with relatively comfortable facilities to facilitate foreign tourists to purchase train tickets. The other is the new Mughal Sarai Station (MGS), where most Delhi to Kolkata Express trains stop. MGS is located about 14 kilometers south of the city center, and a Tuktuk ride costs about 60 rupees.
