Deer Park introduction: Sarnath (Deer Park) is one of the four holy places of Buddhism in ancient India. It was formerly known as Mrigadava, which means deer park. In a Buddhist allusion, the Bodhisattva transformed into a deer king and dedicated himself to the king in order to protect the deer. The king was moved and established a park to protect the deer. This is the place where Sakyamuni taught the Dharma for the first time after he attained enlightenment and became a Buddha in Bodh Gaya, so it is revered as the place where the Dharma Wheel first turns.
Transportation: You can take the bus south of Varanasi Railway Station. The journey takes about 40 minutes and the fare is 10 rupees. If you take a Tuktuk from the train station, the round trip costs about 150 rupees.
