Ghat introduction: The most famous attraction in Varanasi is the 3-kilometer-long Ghat along the bank of the Ganges. There are about 80 large and small Ghats. They are actually piers with various names on the river bank. On these piers, you can see the bathing of pilgrims, the sacrificial rituals of monks, the tonsure ceremony of newborns, the blessing ceremony of newlyweds, various divination and blessing ceremonies, and Indian funeral and cremation ceremonies, etc., from early morning to evening Over and over again without interruption. The piers in the upper reaches of the Ganges are used for bathing, religious ceremonies, and laundry facilities, while the piers downstream are used for funerals and cremations.
