Yuanmou Man has a history of 1.7 million years. Its full name is a new subspecies of Homo erectus Yuanmou Man. It was discovered by the Southwest Neotectonic Research Group of the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences in May 1965. Yuanmou Man is the earliest human being discovered so far in my country and Asia. Due to the discovery of Yuanmou Man and Lufeng Homo, Chuxiong Prefecture is known as the "Cradle of Humanity in Asia".
