The Shanghai Confucian Temple is the only ancient building complex in the central urban area of Shanghai that combines a temple and a school to worship Confucius. It is a sacred place of Confucian culture with a long history. The Confucian Temple, known as the Zitong Temple in the Southern Song Dynasty, was built in the 31st year of the Yuan Dynasty (1294) and has a history of more than 700 years. During this period, it was moved four times. The current Confucian Temple was built in the fifth year of Emperor Xianfeng of the Qing Dynasty (1855), covering an area of about 17 acres. It is an ancient "temple on the left and school on the right" architectural pattern. There are many cultural relics and historical sites preserved inside. It is a famous scenic spot and historical site in Shanghai and a Shanghai cultural relic protection unit.Attractions distribution:

1. Every Sunday, there will be a second-hand book trading event in the square in front of Dacheng Hall. Friends who like it can go shopping for second-hand books. You may accidentally find the long-awaited out-of-print book. In the northeast corner of the Confucian Temple, a book market imitating the bookstores of the Ming and Qing Dynasties is built, which is a famous book shopping paradise in Shanghai.
2. At the end of each year, the Shanghai Confucian Temple Fair holds a bell-ringing, blessing and wishing event in the form of a temple fair. Let students express their good hopes in front of the statue of Confucius, the great educator in ancient times, express their determination to learn, and receive the influence of China's excellent traditional culture. Visitors can participate in activities such as the release of turtles and fish and the candle lighting of New Year expectations in Tianguang Yuncai Pond.
