Introduction to Melk Abbey: Melk Abbey (Stift Melk) was rebuilt from 1702 to 1738 AD. It is a Benedictine monastery and the representative building of the entire town. In 1089 AD, the then Leopold II donated the castle to the local Christian Benedictine order and converted it into a monastery for monks to practice and preach.
