Introduction to the Safeguarding Peace Arch: The Safeguarding Peace Arch is located in the south gate of Zhongshan Park. It is a bluestone archway 17 meters wide, 10.9 meters high, with four pillars and a blue glazed tile roof on the third floor. The stele was originally built on the street outside the west entrance of Zongbu Hutong in the north of Dongdan North Street. It was originally called "Klinde Stele". It was a witness to the Qing government's loss of power and humiliation during the Guangxu period. After the end of World War I, China, as the victor of the Allied Powers, This archway was moved to Zhongshan Park and renamed the "Memorial of the Victory of the Axiom of the Entente". In 1952, in order to commemorate the Asia and Pacific Peace Conference held in Beijing, the "Memorial of the Victory of the Axiom of the Entente" was renamed the "Defense of Peace" arch. The four gold-plated characters "Defend Peace" engraved in the middle of the archway were inscribed by Guo Moruo.
