Introduction to Copp's Hill Cemetery: Copp's Hill Burying Ground is the highest point north of Boston. The British army used it as a stronghold to capture Charles City during the Battle of Bunker Hill. Copp Hill Cemetery was originally a hill in the North Point District. William Copp, a shoemaking owner, donated the land, so the place was named after him. Cope Hill Cemetery is the final resting place of merchants, craftsmen and artists. But buried here are more ordinary Bostonians.
