Introduction to the Old City Hall: There are three statues in front of the Old City Hall. On the left is Benjamin Franklin, on the right is Josiah Quincy, the third mayor of Boston, and in the middle is a donkey. There are two bronze footprints opposite the donkey, with two elephants engraved on them and the words "Stand in Opposition". When you step on them, you will stand opposite the donkey. It means "the dispute between donkey and elephant". The donkey and the elephant represent the Democratic and Republican parties respectively.
