Introduction to the Grand Château: The first building on the original site of The Grand Château was built in 1528-1531 by the Montmorency family. It was destroyed into ruins during the French Revolution. The castle as you see it today was rebuilt in 1870 by the Duke of Aumale, son of King Louis-Philippe.
