Introduction to the Thousand Buddhas Niche: The fifth cave is the Thousand Buddhas Niche, with a lower stone wall and a larger Buddhist niche inside. It was built during the Qianfeng period of the Tang Dynasty (AD 666-667). The niche is 1.5 meters high and 2.12 meters wide, with an arched forehead. The back hall is straight and regular, with a sitting Buddha. There are neatly arranged small Buddhist niches engraved on the walls of the hall. There are 999 small Buddhas. Including the big Buddha in the middle, there are exactly one thousand, so it is called "Thousand Buddha Niches".
