Monument introduction: There is a stone monument next to the waterfall, which was erected in memory of Ms. Sigrid Thomasdottir. Sigrid and his daughter owned the land at the time and refused to sell it to foreign water conservancy development groups, but the developer bypassed them and obtained government permission. So there was a scene in the parliament where Sigrid stood up to protect the waterfall and threatened to jump into the waterfall and die. Later, through legal means, the waterfall was preserved. In 1975, Sigrid Thomasdottir gave Gullfoss to the Icelandic government as a nature reserve.
