Introduction to Huiquan Hall: Get on the boat from Beijimiao Cruise Ship Pier and go south for about 1 mile to the small island where Huiquan Hall is located. The island is densely covered with green trees and luxuriant grass. It is very quiet. Because of the Jinan literati in the Qing Dynasty, Many bachelors come here to enjoy the coolness and escape the heat in midsummer, drink tea and compose poems, so it is also called "Qingliang Island". And because many springs in Jinan City flow into Daming Lake from near this island, the clear spring on the island is named "Huibo Spring", and the temple on the island is also called Huiquan Temple.
The year when Huiquan Temple was first built is unknown, but according to the "Inscription on the Reconstruction of Huiquan Temple" by Wu Hua, a native of Qiantang in the Qing Dynasty, it was known that the temple was rebuilt by local salt merchants Mao and Zhang in the fifth year of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty (1800 AD). It was originally a double courtyard with buildings such as the Buddha Hall, Guandi Temple, Gongshu Temple, and Wenchang Pavilion. The Buddha Hall is the main hall with Buddha statues inside. On the west side of the temple, there are four couplets of a jingshe, named "Xili Pavilion". At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, there were many pilgrims here, and the incense was once prosperous.
After the liberation of Jinan, most of Huiquan Temple collapsed, leaving only the main hall and three wing rooms. In 1957, the hall was repaired and converted into a chess room, named "Huiquan Hall", which attracted many chess experts and crazy chess fans. Come here to play chess and watch the game; in 1984, it was turned into a fishing area. Visitors can take boats to the island and fish in the shade; now the island has been converted into a park orchid planting base, known as Orchid Island. The central courtyard of the island is well-proportioned. A new orchid exhibition hall has been built in the east of the courtyard, and the original main hall has been renovated. There is a canopy in the middle of the courtyard, and a greenhouse in the northeast corner of the courtyard. Currently, there are more than 1,500 pots of orchids in more than 20 varieties.
