Introduction to Linji Temple: Zhengding Linji Zen Temple, formerly known as Linji Temple, was founded in 540 AD. It is the ancestral court of the Linji Sect and the monastery of Zen Master Yixuan, the founding ancestor. Linji Temple was destroyed in the war between Song and Jin Dynasties, and only the pagoda remained, standing tall among the rubble. In the twenty-third year of Dading (1183), Jin Shizong restored it. Most of the current temple buildings were built after 1983.
