Introduction to the nunnery: The nunnery is a group of exquisite Puuc-style buildings and one of the most eye-catching classical period buildings in Chichen Itza. The convent was actually the government palace of the city in the classical period. Not far to the east is a small temple, nicknamed "La Iglesia, The Church", which is decorated with exquisite rain god masks.
