Introduction to Fuzhou Jiefang Bridge: Fuzhou Jiefang Bridge was built in the eighth year of Yuanyou of the Song Dynasty (1093). Wang Zudao, then the magistrate of the state, recruited craftsmen to build one pontoon bridge in the north and south with Surangyan Island as the center. In 1103, the floating bridge was changed to a stone pier bridge. In 1303, it was converted into a simple stone beam and stone slab bridge. In 1930, in order to meet the needs of opening automobiles, the Wanshou and Jiangnan bridges were converted into highway bridges. After 1949, the bridge was renamed "Liberation Bridge" in order to commemorate the People's Liberation Army crossing the bridge and chasing the Kuomintang troops fleeing south.
