Introduction to the antique archway: The "Laomendong" archway is 17 meters high, with exquisite stone carvings laid on the beams, columns and forehead using dry-hanging technology. The stone carvings were designed and carved by stone carving artists in Hui'an, Fujian. The stone carvings include music, chess, calligraphy and painting, plum, orchid and bamboo. There are chrysanthemums, jade ruyi, etc., and the drum stone on the base of the archway is also laid with exquisite stone carvings and cloud patterns. There is a pair of couplets on both sides of the archway, which presents the splendor created by Nanjing people of all generations when they jointly built the ancient city and the depth of the city, which is fascinating.
