Introduction to Cai Yuanpei’s portrait: Cai Yuanpei (1868-1940) served as the president of Peking University from 1916 to 1927 and made outstanding contributions to the development of Peking University and China’s education. He is a famous educator in my country. He organized the Liberation Association in his early years and later joined the Tongmenghui. After the Revolution of 1911, he served as the Director-General of Education of the Nanjing Provisional Government. Comrade Mao Zedong once praised him: "A great leader in academic circles and a model in the world." The statue of Cai Yuanpei is located in the lush woods on the southwest side of Weiming Lake. It was built with donations from students in grades 77 and 78.
