Work introduction: Horses have been working in salt mines since ancient times, used to transport salt, drag lifts, etc. They were tied up by their four legs and hoisted into a mine more than 100 meters deep. Since going down a well is a "terrifying experience" for horses, they never go back up again. Usually there are stables for them to rest in the mine, specialized people take care of them, and fodder is also transported underground. Wieliczka's last horse, worked until 2002 before retiring.
