Introduction to Rankot Vehara: Rankot Vehara is a large-scale building. It is the largest stupa in Polonnaruwa. It is also known as the "Golden Pagoda". The fourth tallest building in Sri Lanka, it was built on the order of King Nishanka Malla. The vaults still exist and the walls are covered with various animal reliefs. Around the tower, you can still see the remains of many ancillary buildings from that time, all of which have obvious Angkor and South Indian styles.
