Introduction to sperm whale specimens: The sperm whale is the largest toothed whale in the world. It is also known as the "pilot whale" because of its extremely large head. This type of whale has a short and thick body, moves clumsily and slowly, and is easy to hunt. Therefore, the existing number has dropped sharply, with only 200,000 remaining. Sperm whales are widely distributed and are commonly found in the Yellow Sea, South China Sea, East China Sea and Taiwan waters in China. The sperm whale specimen on display in the museum is about 14 meters long and weighs 22 tons. It is the largest toothed whale specimen captured for the first time in China.
