Introduction to the painting: Shi Tao, a great painter in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, once served as a monk in Xiangshan Temple for 21 years. Shi Tao, a descendant of King Jingjiang, was taken to Xiangshan Temple in Quanzhou by eunuchs to become a monk after his family was ruined in the late Ming Dynasty. His dharma name is Yuan Ji, his courtesy name is Shi Tao, and his nicknames include Dadizi, Old Man Qingxiang, Monk Bitter Melon, Venerable Blind, etc.
