Introduction to Shiyang Salt Culture Museum: Shiyang was historically prosperous because of salt. Salt was already produced in the ancient town of Shiyang during the Western Han Dynasty. It was one of the main salt producing areas in Yunnan Province. At its peak, salt production accounted for the entire Yunnan province. Accounting for more than 40% of the province, Shirai salt has contributed to the prosperity and development of Shiyang.
