Dayao Shiyang Ancient Town preserves the largest bronze statue of Confucius today, integrating Confucianism, salt, history, Yi and Buddhist culture. It is the famous "Salt Capital of Dian Kingdom and Holy Land to Worship Confucius". Shiyang has been a rich source of well salt in Yunnan since the Western Han Dynasty when wells were dug for salt extraction.
