Introduction to Tianhou Temple: Penghu Tianhou Temple is the oldest Mazu temple in Taiwan. It was built in the early Ming Dynasty and is located at No. 1 Zhengyi Street, Central Lane, Magong City. Facing the port, it faces north and south, and is built along the slope, with water in front and mountains behind. The architectural layout is three halls and two courtyards, namely Sanchuan Hall, main hall and Qingfeng Pavilion (back hall), which rise along the terrain. There are polygonal stone steps at the junction of the temple and the Sanchuan Hall. Pilgrims need to walk up the steps to enter the temple. This is a unique design among Taiwanese temples.
