Introduction to the Marie Antoinette Room: The Marie Antoinette Room is named after a tapestry depicting Queen Marie Antoinette and her children that was originally hung here. It was used here during the reign of Queen Elizabeth. The restaurant where the royal family holds dinners. Every day's dinners are held in strict accordance with palace etiquette. In the center of the table is a golden flower and fruit plate, with flowers, fruits and desserts on it. The formal dinners are French cuisine, and the family dinners are Viennese dishes. The tableware on the table was borrowed from the Palace Silver Museum of the Royal Palace, which collects and displays gold and silver ceramic tableware from the original palace, including the tableware used by Elizabeth and the solid gold tableware of Queen Maria Theresa. The usual family dinner starts at 6 o'clock and consists of 3 to 6 dishes. Franz Joseph's favorite dishes are Wiener Schnitzel, braised beef, veal stew and the famous Emperor's egg cheese. Usually the emperor sits in the middle of the table, or opposite the emperor if the empress happens to be at home. In order to stay slim, Elizabeth ate very little and often skipped meals, so she was often absent from family dinners.
Guests were allowed to chat across the table at unofficial banquets where the emperor had seated them, but at other times could only speak in whispers to their neighbors.
